My Kid the Comedian
This photo marks the exact moment that Baby Averill made his/her parents laugh for the first time. I'd say the kid's got pretty good comedic timing for a 12 week old fetus. Of all the traits I hope our child will possess, a good sense of humor is right up there with health, happiness, kindness, and intelligence. I'm hoping that this is only the first of many jokes we will share as a family, and that Baby Averill's childhood will be filled with far more giggles than tears. I can't wait until (s)he makes his/her first funny face, or gets spaghetti in his/her hair, or says something hilarious. I'm counting on the humor to get us through the challenges of life with a little one and to lighten the mood when things get tough. I'm also looking forward to the moment when we make Baby Averill laugh for the first time. Hopefully we'll be able to capture that moment as well as we captured this one.

Here's the Deal
My reasons for starting this blog are twofold; to fulfill an assignment for my computer class at NCCU, and to create a place for our far-flung friends and family to get photos and updates on the happenings in the Averill household. Now that we are expecting a third member of our family, our lives have suddenly become more interesting to our loved ones, so I can feel justified in displaying my life on the internet in a way that I haven't before. Times like these make me wish we could be closer to our families, so hopefully this blog will help make the distance seem a little shorter.
I'll be updating the blog periodically, i.e., when something interesting happens. You can expect to see pregnancy updates from me and photos as they become available. I hope to keep the blog going after Baby Averill's arrival, when the photos should get much more exciting. Unfortunately, this assignment also has a video component, so I'm going to go ahead and apologize for that one in advance. Thanks for reading, and I hope you find the blog entertaining as well as informative!
